Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage can only be provided by therapists who’ve had additional training.

Massage during pregnancy is very therapeutic – not only because you are able to ease any muscular tension you may be having due to postural changes, but because it helps you to relax and give you that time out mentally and physically.

It is safe to receive a massage during all three trimesters. Your comfort during the massage is paramount and to ensure this, the back massage is carried out with you lying on your side – with plenty of pillows to help support you.

If you are interested in receiving a full body massage – you’ll also receive a massage of the legs and feet, arms and hands, scalp, face and decollete area. This is usually carried out in a semi-reclined position.

A pregnancy massage is particularly good for:

  • Reducing levels of stress
  • Aiding with lymphatic drainage – swollen ankles, fingers and hands
  • Clearing sinus congestion
  • Reducing muscular tension due to postural changes
  • Encouraging relaxation
  • Easing sciatic pain

What you need to know before your treatment:

  • You’ll need to complete a Consultation form so the treatment can be tailored to you and any medical conditions or health issues can be highlighted. This will only take a few minutes.  You can view a copy of this online to check if there are any areas you want to discuss beforehand.
  • Clothing will need to be removed depending on what area of the body you wish to be treated, but underwear is to be kept on.
  • Don’t have a heavy meal or consume alcohol before your treatment.
